HYRUM – Elite Hall in Hyrum will be showing off the shiny new floor as they hold their second annual Christmas Celebration on Friday, Dec. 6, and Saturday, Dec. 7. Visitors can look at some of the best decorated Christmas Trees and gingerbread displays in the south end of the valley.

Admission to the event is free.
Doors will open at 5 p.m. and will close at 9 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 6 and on Saturday, Dec. 7, doors will open at 10 a.m. and close at 3 p.m.
Craig Rasmussen, a Hyrum City Councilman who is overseeing the event, said they’re trying to up their Christmas celebrations in the city. They already have lights that go across main street and lighted figures in the city square and parks.
“We had about 20 decorated Christmas Trees last year and this year we are hoping to get more,” he said. “People bring in their own trees and personal decorations. They set them up for the public to see.”
They can start decorating their trees as early as Thursday with their own personal things. At the end of the celebration, participants can take their trees down or just take them home with everything on them.

There is one person raffling off a tree with the money going to the Elite Hall restoration efforts.
“Last year we had 27 gingerbread entries. They are hoping for more entries this year,” he said.
There will be prizes for the best trees and gingerbread displays. Santa Clause and Mrs. Clause will be there on Saturday from Noon until 2 p.m. There will be cookies available for those who want a treat.
“This is a fun and festive event,” Rasmussen said. “We hope people will come out and see what it’ all about.”
After the facility is cleaned up there will be a free showing of the movie “Elf” at the Elite Hall on Saturday at 7 p.m. doors will open at 6:30. Bring your own chair, blanket or pillow.
