LOGAN — A 23-year-old Hyde Park man has been arrested for allegedly sharing child pornography through a social media app, according to law enforcement. Luke Hylton Harris was booked Wednesday into the Cache County Jail after police served a warrant to his place of employment.

According to the arrest affidavit, the Logan City Police Department received a cyber-tip in June, claiming Harris had uploaded several pornographic photos of young girls to a Snapchat account. The tip had been relayed to police from the Utah Attorney General’s Office.

Police reported the pictures were of a 13 or 14-year-old girl. The user account they were uploaded to was registered to Harris.

Investigators were able to determine the pictures were uploaded to the Snapchat account through an open WIFI at south Logan medical center. They later learned Harris worked at a barber shop next door, according to court records.

On Aug. 21, police served a search warrant to Harris while he was at work. They seized his phone and attempted to question him.

While at the police station, Harris reportedly requested an attorney and would not speak to investigators.

According to jail records, Harris was booked on suspicion of sexual exploitation of a minor, a second-degree felony. He was later released, pending arraignment on formal charges in 1st District Court.

Individuals arrested and charged in complaints are presumed innocent unless or until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in court.
