WELLSVILLE – There is a small company in Wellsville with a big heart giving free furnaces to people in need.

Mountain Valley Heating & Air Conditioning finds people that need a leg up when it comes to heating for winter and has been giving them a free heating system.

The HVAC company put out the word and received 70 nominations to help deserving families with heating units for the winter.

They finished installing the last of their five units on Thursday.

Tyson Hall, co-owner of Mountain Valley, said they have given away more units this year than they have in the past and want to do more next year.

Brent Benson is the other owner of the company.

“Lennox donates the equipment. They have offered the program for years,” he said. “We have given away furnaces in 2022, 2024, now 2025. This is the first year we have installed this many units.”

Hall said it’s been good for his employees to learn to provide service and give back to the community.

“I feel no one gives back anymore and its good for our guys to be involved in service,” he said. “They have an opportunity to see people that are struggling and help them.

Mountain Valley has been working in Cache Valley for 20 years.

“One of the families we gave a furnace to was a single mom with children and their furnace went out,” he said. “They spent the winter with a space heater huddling in a bedroom for heat because they had no heating system.”

Another single mother moved to Logan five years ago with her son. She started a business and is going to graduate school at Utah State University. She said a lot of friends and family wrote to the company to support her getting her system replaced.

“Mountain Valley would like to be able to install more furnaces next year,” Hall said. “We see a real need in the Cache Valley area.”

They are holding a fundraising event called “Feel the Love” at the Riverwoods Conference Center on Monday, Oct. 13, located at 615 Riverwoods Parkway, Logan.

“The dinner will be slow roasted beef, potatoes and gravy,” he said. “For entertainment we have a couple of guys from Salt Lake called Dueling Pianos that play requests.”

The Dueling Pianos are well known for their music and showmanship.

There will also be raffles and auctions.

The dinner is being held to help raise more money for next year’s giveaways. They dinner costs $60 per plate, or table for eight people will cost $400. The company wants to be able to help even more families next year.
