BRIGHAM CITY — An Ogden man scored more than just bragging rights after sinking a hole-in-one during a charity golf tournament this week — he rolled away with two electric bikes and $750 in gear.
McKay Smith nailed the ace on Hole 8 at Eagle Mountain Golf Course in Brigham City during the 41st annual “Golf-N-Grub” Duffers Charity Tournament, hosted by the Kiwanis Club of Brigham City on Tuesday.
The 124-yard par-3 hole, guarded by right-side bunkers and featuring a slight dogleg left, proved no match for Smith, who plays for the Wheelwright Lumber team out of Ogden. His prize for the shot included two e-bikes from Pronghorn Bicycles in Perry and $750 in “True Gear” from Hansen Motors of Brigham City.
“This was a very exciting moment in time for McKay and his Wheelwright team,” said tournament officials in a statement. Smith works at Wheelwright Lumber.
Tournament organizers reported this year’s event was their most successful yet, with 32 teams competing and increased sponsor support. Proceeds from the tournament will help the Kiwanis Club assemble up to 600 backpacks filled with school supplies for local children in need. The backpacks will be distributed by the Box Elder Family Support Center ahead of the fall school year.
Founded in 1948, the Kiwanis Club of Brigham City is part of Kiwanis International, a global service organization focused on youth and community betterment.
