LOGAN – The Historic Downtown Logan Ghost Tour is looming, and the haunted structures, nighttime spirits, and eerie stories await everyone when they arrive this Halloween.
Ted Erekson a member of the Bridgerland Story Telling Guild, will be spinning a haunting story at the Thatcher Young Mansion.
The story is about a family that settled near a creek not far from where the Riverwood Conference Center is today.
“The mother dies of a sickness, and the children were left home alone,” he said. “A cougar comes to their yard, and the mother comes back to life and tears the cougar apart.”
Erekson has been telling stories like this for 14 years.
Gary Saxton, director of the Downtown Alliance, said the guild will be sharing the story of the ghost of a man who died in the Thatcher Opera House Fire of 1912.
“It was close to the time the Titanic sunk,” he said. “The man still haunts the area over a hundred hears after the fire.”
These are a couple of the many stories people will hear that participate in the annual event.
The stories will give participants an opportunity to learn about downtown’s most infamous ghosts, poltergeists, and spirits doomed to the realm of mortals.
Organizers of the Ghost Tour say it is technically a family-friendly tour; however, it is not recommended for small children or for people who don’t like to be scared.
The private guided walking tour will take participants into the heart of Logan’s haunted history as they visit sites with members of the Guild.
Each guided tour lasts approximately 90 minutes and walking distance is less than 1/4 mile. Tour times are 7 p.m., 8 p.m., and 9 p.m. on Fridays and Saturdays, October 17, 18, 24 and 25.
