LOGAN – The USU Spring Runoff Conference, an annual gathering of the water community in Utah and the Intermountain West, is joining with the Northern Utah Water Users for a joint 2024 conference next week in Logan.

For those interested, registration is free but is required and closes Friday (March 22) at usu.edu/water/conference/.

This two-day event is Tuesday, March 26, at the Cache County Fairgrounds and Wednesday, March 27 at the Eccles Conference Center at Utah State University.

Navigating Utah’s Water Challenges Through Interdisciplinary Partnerships is this year’s theme, providing an opportunity for water managers and researchers to gather during a time of unusual challenges.

Speakers will include USU President Elizabeth Cantwell, Utah Commissioner of Agriculture and Food Craig Buttars, Utah House District 5 representative Casey Snider, and Tage Flint, Executive Director Utah Water Ways. Nearly 70 USU water researchers will also be on hand.

Gov. Spencer J. Cox will sign water-related bills and deliver remarks on Tuesday.

The conference begins Tuesday at 9 a.m. in the County Event Center at the fairgrounds and Wednesday’s sessions on campus will start with check-ins and a light breakfast at 8 a.m.

Brian Steed, executive director of USU’s Janet Quinney Lawson Institute for Land, Water and Air, said the conference provides a chance to reach the key people interested in the shared water resources for northern Utah.
