LOGAN – The LionHeart Hall will offer another chapter of its “Light Switch Stories” series on Friday, July 26.

As usual, the event will feature Cache Valley and northern Utah residents telling true stories about their lives.

Headlining this fourth monthly installment of “Light Switch Stories” will be Jenny Taylor, the widow of Major Brent Taylor, the former mayor of North Ogden. A member of the Utah National Guard, Maj. Taylor was killed in a tragic “blue-on-blue” shooting incident while serving in Afghanistan in November 2018.

Mrs. Taylor continues to reside in North Ogden. She holds a bachelor’s degree from Brigham Young University and a Masters of Education from Utah State.

In the months since Maj. Taylor’s shocking death, Mrs. Taylor has unexpectedly and frequently found herself in a position to speak out about the price of freedom, the value of community support and the healing that can be found when moving forward with a conviction to find hope and happiness in spite of life’s heartache and pain.

The overall theme of the July chapter of “Light Switch Stories” at the LionHeart Hall is independence, according to Ryan Leonhardt, the owner of that performance venue.

Other residents slated to relate their intimate stories on July 26 include Tracy Monson, Daisy Quiroz, Debbie Andrew, Savannah Cordova, Carolina Calbimonte and Colin Combs.

The evening event will begin at 6 p.m. with an optional gathering to give speakers an opportunity to network and mingle. The actually storytelling will begin at 7 p.m.

“It’s kind of a fun atmosphere,” Leonhardt adds. “We have some refreshments as people from the community relate events that happened in their lives.”

LionHeart Hall is Cache Valley’s newest performance venue and social gathering place. In addition to provided a new home for the Cache Theatre Company, the hall also hosts recitals, music performances, wedding and other events.

Leonhardt explains that LionHeart Hall features a pleasing combination of art deco décor along with professional sound and lighting equipment.

“The storytellers on Friday should be really good,” he predicts.

Tickets for the “Light Switch Stories” event on July 26 can be purchased at the door for $10.

LionHeart Hall is located at 480 North, 100 East in Logan.
