LOGAN — A Logan man remains in critical condition in the intensive care unit following a severe two-vehicle collision on U.S. 89/91 in Sardine Canyon, Friday night.
Bryant Bess sustained life-threatening injuries on Oct. 9 when the pickup truck he was driving attempted a left-hand turn onto the highway from Mount Pisgah Road and pulled directly in front of a southbound semi-truck tanker near the canyon summit, according to Utah Highway Patrol Sgt. Jason Kendrick.
The crash occurred at approximately 5:45 p.m. Emergency responders treated Bess at the scene before he was airlifted to McKay-Dee Hospital in Ogden. The driver of the semi-truck sustained serious injuries and was transported to a local hospital via ambulance.
Friends posted online that as Bryant begins a long and uncertain road to recovery, his wife, Shaunie Bess, and their family are navigating the emotional and financial fallout of the tragedy. With neither Bryant nor Shaunie able to work while focusing entirely on his medical care, friends and community members have organized support efforts to help cover mounting medical bills and unexpected living expenses.
Family members emphasize that while financial contributions are welcome, thoughts, prayers, and words of encouragement are deeply appreciated. Community members wishing to donate to assist the family can do so securely through Shaunie Bess’s verified Venmo account (@Shaunie-Bess34), with supporters urged to use the exact link to avoid fraudulent duplicate accounts.
