Four Seasons Theatre Company veterans Jon Rash and Jennifer Bohman will lead the creative team and cast of the upcoming production of ‘Anastasia.’ The musical will be presented April 4 to 13, 2024 in the auditorium of Sky View High School in Smithfield.
SMITHFIELD – The Four Seasons Theatre Company has announced its creative team and cast for the upcoming production of Anastasia.
The behind-the-scene team will be led by veteran FSTC director Jon Rash.
Rash is a theatre teacher at Sky View High School. He is not only one of the founding members of the Four Seasons troupe, but also has been a featured performer in many of their productions.
Rash says he is eager to direct Anastasia, having seen the original production on Broadway in 2017.
Rash will be assisted by Jennifer Bohman as musical director of the production.
Ms. Bohman teaches private vocal and piano lessons, and does Acadience reading diagnostic testing for the Cache County School district.
She has been involved in FSTC productions since 2011, both as a performer and music director.
Based by the 1997 film by animation genius Don Bluth, Anastasia adapts to the stage the legend of the Grand Duchess Anastasia Nikolaevna, who was rumored to have escaped the execution of her family at the twilight of the Russian Empire.
In the late 1920s, an amnesiac orphan named Anya teams up with two con men and travels to Paris to hopefully find her home, love and family.
The musical features music and lyrics by the renowned composing team of Lynn Ahrens and Stephen Flaherty, whose previous Broadway hits have included the musicals Once Upon This Island and Suessical, among others.
The Tony-nominated musical is a brilliant modern-day fairy tale about discovering who you are and defining who you’re meant to be.
Nathan Bohman has been cast as Dmitry, one of the would-be con men. Bohman has a long list of stage credits, including the recent FSTC productions of The Hunchback of Notre Dame and Cinderella. He was also part of the skilled crew that made the Sarah Huff’s flying stunts in Mary Poppins look effortless.
The role of Anya will be played Patrice Densley, fresh from her role as Cinderella in last season’s FSTC production of Into the Woods. She was also seen in the Utah State University Opera Theatre’s presentation of Sweeny Todd, the Demon Barber of Fleet Street in 2022.
Other principal characters will be played by Kyle Cottam as the co-conspirator Vlad, Jordan Cruz as the Countess Lilly, Melissa Hamilton as the Dowager Empress and Dallin Clark as the secret police agent Gleb.
Other members of the named cast are Nora Madsen, Bennett Floyd, Maggie Gladd, Chrissy Andreason, Melinda Richards, Abel Gustin, Baylie Hendry, Amber Freestone, Ben Hall, Isaiah Durnham, Ben Snow and Dakota DeWaal.
As usual, the FSTC production will also include a huge singing ensemble of 24 members and a half dozen ballet dancers.
Anastasia will be presented April 4 to 13, 2024 in the auditorium at Sky View High School.
