BOX ELDER COUNTY — Firefighters are making progress battling the Clarks Fire, located south of the Utah/Idaho border. The wildfire, east of Lynn, was discovered July 23 in the Raft River Mountain range and has spread to about 310 acres.
According to Utah Fire Info, the Clarks Fire is burning on Sawtooth National Forest land. It quadrupled in size during the past six days, since originally reported to have burned only 30 acres.
As of Sunday, the fire was at 35 percent containment. The cause is still undetermined.
No evacuations have been ordered and no structures have been reported to be damaged.
Officials at Utah Fire Info report there have been 679 fires in Utah this year — burning more than 40,000 acres.
467 of the fires have been human-caused, 148 started by natural causes, and 64 unknown causes.
