RICH COUNTY — Crews have determined the cause of the Dry Fork Fire, burning southwest of Randolph. The fire has burned more than 1,194 acres, near the Big Creek Road and Big Creek Canyon area.

Wednesday, the Utah Bureau of Land Management said the fire was determined to have been caused by lighting. It is burning in sage, juniper, and aspen.

The fire was discovered Tuesday, Aug. 6. It has reportedly been on the move, fanned by wind and extreme hot temperatures.

One state taskforce with 4 engines, a hand crew and a tender was ordered earlier, and a second taskforce, including a dozer, was expected to arrive yesterday.

Fire officials said the fire is potentially threatening structures. It is currently zero percent contained.

The county has implemented road closures in the area.
