LOGAN — A fire Monday night destroyed a barn north-east of Richmond. The two-alarm fire was first reported around 8:12 p.m., at 2336 E. 11000 N.

The first crews responding to the fire reported the barn was fully engulfed in flames. There were also animals within the barn and two nearby structures.

A defensive strategy was set up first, to prevent the fire from spreading.

There were no fire hydrants in the area so a second alarm was issued to call tender units, who helped supply crews with water, from a nearby neighborhood.

Cache County Fire District Deputy Chief Jason Winn said crews were able to prevent the fire from spreading. Six goats inside the barn died in the fire.

Winn said there were electrical lights and a heater in the barn but investigators are saying the cause of the fire in undetermined at this time.

The barn was a complete loss. Winn said damage is estimated at $50,000.
