ONEIDA COUNTY, Idaho — Firefighters have achieved 75 percent containment on the Buckboard Fire, which has burned 1,695 acres near the Idaho-Utah border.
The Idaho Bureau of Land Management reported Wednesday night that crews worked through the day to increase containment and are now resting before resuming suppression operations Thursday.
Fire officials caution that due to the fire’s size, difficult terrain, and gusty winds, it will likely be several more days before the blaze is fully controlled.
The Buckboard Fire started Tuesday evening approximately 10 miles southwest of Malad in the Samaria Mountains. Authorities suspected the fire started naturally.
No evacuations have been ordered, and no structures are currently threatened.
