Elaine was born and raised in Wellsville and later moved to Logan, Utah, where she went to school.  She met and married Norman Nielsen, and moved to Hyrum, Utah. They had 3 children, Tammy, Janet and Danny.  She later remarried Sherwin Bright and moved to Richmond, Utah. They had one child, Kathy. Elaine has 3 grandchildren from Janet; Katrina (husband, Gonzalo), Shenna (husband, William) and Beau, (with Heather) and two grandchildren from Danny and wife Melissa, Owen and Oliver.  She has 10 great grandchildren; Honnai, Willow, Blossom, Ivvy, Meaddow, Rivver, from Shenna and Wysteria, Foxx, Luna and Bindi, from Katrina. Most of Elaine’s family and friends have passed on but many loving nieces and nephews remain. Due to the distance of several family members, services will not be held.

Elaine is survived by; daughters Tammy Symons (Pete), Janet Nielsen, Kathy Thomas, and son, Danny Nielsen (Melissa).

Elaine enjoyed raising her children and also working away from home. She graduated high school and went to training school to learn typing and shorthand. She was a very good typist and data entry clerk and worked for several years at IRS seasonally and also 7 years at Hill Air Force Base as a clerk. She received a pension from HFB. Elaine enjoyed skiing at Hyrum damn in her earlier years, enjoyed riding horses, traveling, music, Merle Haggard and Credence Clearwater were favorites, dancing, bowling, and spending time with family. Elaine had some struggles with life, but she was a resilient person and always tried to do her best. She had a sweet spirit and she always stood up for the under-dog. She believed in the Golden Rule, and had very strong values about treating people with respect no matter their station in life. She loved people and loved having fun. She will be missed. God be with you until we meet again.

Elaine’s last years were painful due to health problems, but the hospice team at Community Nursing Services made it less so. We’d like to thank Robert Chandler, who nursed her wounds and gave lots of tender loving care, Jason Bohman, social worker who told her stories and sang to her, and Dan Judd, the chaplain, who prayed with her and sang with her as well. They all helped moms stay at the nursing home to be more pleasant and with less pain, and advocated for her when her family couldn’t always be there. They went above and beyond the services that are generally provided and we thank them all so much!  Mom was in pain the last couple of years, and we are grateful that her pain is gone, but she will be in hearts always.
