LOGAN, Utah – Members of the media that cover the 11 Mountain West men’s basketball teams announced their 2014-15 all-Mountain West men’s basketball team and individual awards on Sunday. The voting panel was comprised of beat writers and other media outlets familiar with the teams, but do not represent the official all-conference awards that will be announced by the conference on Tuesday.

Utah State redshirt freshman forward David Collette was named the Mountain West Freshman of the Year where he led the league in field goal percentage, shooting 58.9 percent (89-of-151) during Mountain West play. In addition, Collette ranked in the top 20 of the league in both scoring and rebounding during the conference season with 11.7 points (16th) and 4.9 rebounds (18th) per game. Collette was also among the leaders in blocks with 2.0 per game, putting him fifth overall in conference games.

Collette was one of three Aggies named to all-Mountain West teams, earning honorable mention accolades with teammate Chris Smith. Smith, a junior guard, finished No. 9 in points per game in conference games (13.8) and led the league behind the 3-point line, hitting 51.3 percent (39-of-76).

Sophomore wing Jalen Moore rounded out Utah State’s all-conference selections as he was named to the second team. Moore led the Aggies in league play with 15.0 points per game (No. 6 in the MW) and was also Utah State’s top rebounder with 6.4 boards per game (No. 8 in the MW). Moore was also among the leaders in the league in four other categories, including field goal percentage (.495/third), defensive rebounds per game (5.4/sixth), minutes per game (34.9/seventh) and free throw percentage (.731/ninth).
