March 23, 1939 – August 7, 2022 (age 83)

Danni Lofland died peacefully in his home on Sunday, August 7, 2022 in Logan, Utah. He was 83.

Danni was born on March 23, 1939 in Tonopah, Nye County, Nevada to Eva Esther Woods Lofland and William Marvin Lofland.

Danni and his mother joined The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints when he was in his teenage years. His love for and testimony of the Gospel of Jesus Christ only continued to increase throughout his life.

Once he finished high school, Danni enlisted in the U.S. Air Force. While stationed at Mather Air Force Base near Sacramento, he met Judy Kay Draper. He asked her to marry him on their first date. While that didn’t quite work out the way he imagined it would, it led to 6 months of courtship, and on June 15, 1962, Danni married Judy in the Manti temple. They started a family, had a kid or 13, and were married for 60 years.

While his saintly wife took care of 3 children and prepared for the 4th, Danni went to Vietnam, where he serviced Huey helicopters as an avionics tech. He worked both as an HVAC and instrument technician for a mushroom plant, and for the Army National Guard while raising his family with Judy in Fillmore, UT for nearly two decades. From there, work took Danni and his family to Moscow, ID and eventually to Logan, UT. He earned an English degree at Utah State University, found work in the 299th Range Control Squadron at Hill Air Force Base, and continued to work there until his retirement in 2010.

He loved planes, books, camping, music, computers, sailing, and family nights playing card games with his kids. He believed in the power of a good education. He served as a perfect example of compassion and kindness, and had a wonderful, good-natured sense of humor. He suffered many years of chronic, debilitating back pain, and while none of us are ready to miss our father, we are also relieved that at long last, he can rest.

Danni is preceded by his sons Matthew (deceased) and Spencer (deceased), and granddaughter Tori (deceased).

He is survived by his wife Judy, children: Bry (Anjela), Michael (Dani), Scott (Kele), Lori (Bob) Drake, Kristi (Peter) Fatuesi, Sammy, Nathan (Micaela), Jana (Sean) Lowe, Jeff (Melinda), Todd, Kayla (Andrew) Stevens, 32 grandchildren, and 5 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m., Thursday, 11 August 2022 at the Central Park Ward, 94 W 600 S in Logan, UT.

Interment will be in the Logan Cemetery.
