Costco opening in Logan
LOGAN – Friday is the day that many throughout Northern Utah have been anxiously waiting for: the opening of a Costco warehouse store in Logan. The massive store, located at 1160 North 1000 West, had dozens of employees and construction workers feverishly working on last-minute details throughout this week to prepare the store and tire center for its grand opening.
Concrete medians have been built along 1000 West in front of the store and along 1000 North to help with proper traffic flow in and out of the store’s parking lot. Large crowds are expected throughout the weekend and an official ribbon cutting ceremony is scheduled for Friday evening.
The store’s operating hours are Monday through Friday, 10 a.m. to 8:30 p.m., Saturday from 9:30 a.m. to 7 p.m. and Sunday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.
Besides offering a wide variety of retail, electronics and grocery inside the 160,500-square-foot facility, it also offers a tire center, fuel pumps and food court. Membership tables have been popping up all over Cache Valley for the last two months trying to get locals to join. Only Costco members can shop in the mega warehouse.
The store’s opening comes at a time when Cache Valley recently experienced another wave of layoffs from iFIT. However, unemployment numbers for the valley and the state of Utah remain very strong. Friday’s unemployment report for the state lists Utah’s unemployment rate at 2.1%.
