Connie was born in Osaka, Japan, August 8, 1930. She met her lifelong sweetheart, Albert L. Negus, while he was serving his country during the Korean War. They were married in Seoul, Korea and were later sealed in 1960 for time and all eternity in the Logan, Utah LDS Temple. They shared 56 wonderful years together.
She was the pioneer of her family, moving to America to be with her new husband whose family were sheepherders. The first horse she learned to ride was an old mare named Sugar, and if you knew Connie, you know that Sugar wasn’t nearly swift enough to keep up with what she wanted to do!
Connie sponsored her mother, brother, and sister (and their families) to come to America and build lives in this country that has afforded us all so much opportunity. Connie left no stone unturned when she needed to get things done, especially if it was something her family or a neighbor needed. She worked multiple jobs to help support her family both here and in Korea. We know she did not do this without the help of wonderful neighbors, friends, and church members that loved and supported her. Ecclesiastes 4: 9-10 reads, “Two are better than one because they have a good return for their labor; If either of them falls down, one can help the other up. But pity anyone who falls and has no one to help them up.” She depended on the kindness of so many to help her in her new country and in return she helped many others.
She survived many hardships, but this did not make her a hard woman. She was always smiling, she never complained, and was always so happy and welcoming. Her greatest joy came from making her family happy, she was always the peacemaker, the connector, and was loved by everyone who met her.
In addition to her parents and husband, Connie was preceded in death by three of her siblings in Korea and two nephews.
