LOGAN — St. John’s Episcopal Church is seeking volunteers to help provide a warm, safe gathering place for unhoused residents on Christmas Day, extending support from 8 a.m. to 6:30 p.m.
Although the event is not an official operation of the William A. Burnard Warming Center, organizers said the center is helping facilitate the holiday effort to ensure no one in the community spends the day alone.
Volunteers will help welcome guests, serve refreshments and participate in planned activities, including crafts, a Christmas movie and the distribution of holiday stockings. Individuals, families and friend groups are invited to participate. Anyone 18 or older may volunteer; minors must be accompanied by a legal guardian.
Organizers said they are also seeking donations of supplies, treats and stocking-stuffer items. A Google form is available for those wishing to volunteer or donate, and an Amazon wishlist has been created for craft-table contributions.
Community members can sign up to help by going here.
Craft donations may be made through the event wishlist here.
Organizers said the goal is to offer warmth, dignity and connection during a time of year that can be especially difficult for those without stable housing.
