CACHE COUNTY – A discussion of “Priorities for Cache County” will take place on Saturday, Oct. 26 from 1 to 3 p.m.

That event, sponsored by the Domestic Policy Caucus, will feature local leaders, community members and experts sharing their insights and perspectives.

This will be a great chance to learn about the challenges and opportunities in northern Utah and contribute to the conversation, according to moderator Greg Hughes, a former Utah lawmaker and speaker of the House.

The panelists for this free event will include state Rep. Casey Snider (R-Paradise); Bryan Cox, the mayor of Hyde Park; Cache County Attorney Taylor Sorenson; and, Sheriff Chad Jensen.

The “Priorities for Cache County” agenda will include Snider discussing water issues in Utah; Cox on growth management in local cities; Sorenson on crime and sentencing guidelines; and Jensen discussing public safety issues.

The event will conclude with a free-ranging question and answer session.

“Don’t miss this chance to connect with others who are passionate about making a difference in Cache Valley,” Hughes explained. “Whether you’re a long-time resident or new to the area, your voice matters.

“Let’s come together to identify priorities and work towards a brighter future for your community.”

Hughes is a veteran of 16 years in the Utah legislature, during which he served as House Majority Whip and Speaker of the House. He ran unsuccessfully for governor in 2020 and in a special election for Utah’s 2nd Congressional District in 2023.

Most recently, Hughes has served as a spokesman for No Government Internet, a political group opposing government-controlled broadband networks.

In that capacity, Hughes has argued the government-owned broadband networks cost millions of dollars and divert essential funding away from services that really matter to the public, including services such as police and fire, roads, water and sewer infrastructures.

The Domestic Policy Caucus is a non-profit group that promotes transparent, public conservations on critical policy issues at the local, state and federal levels.

The “Priorities for Cache County” event will take place on the third floor of the Cache County Sheriff’s Complex at 1225 West, 200 North in Logan.
