LOGAN — A 27-year-old Logan man has been arrested for allegedly trying to strangle a woman during a domestic dispute, according to law enforcement. Albert Tunney was booked Saturday into the Cache County Jail.
Tunney was arraigned Tuesday in Logan’s 1st District Court, appearing by web conference from jail. He was charged with aggravated assault, a second-degree felony; and misdemeanors for making a threat, domestic violence in the presence of a child and intoxication.
Cache County Deputy Attorney Mark Winkel explained how Logan City Police officers were called to a domestic dispute Oct. 12.
The alleged victim claimed Tunney had strangled her, resulting in a temporary loss of consciousness. She also described how he had cut her with a large knife.
Winkel told the court, police reported the woman had injuries consistent with the allegations.
Judge Thomas Willmore said he would allow Tunney to be released on bail but ordered him to have no contact with the alleged victim.
Tunney is scheduled to appear again in court Oct. 21. He could face up to five years in prison, if convicted.
