MILLVILLE — It’s an annual event to raise money for the Relay for Life of Cache County and the American Cancer Society, Dancing with the Relay Stars will be held Friday evening at 6 p.m. at Ridgeline High School in Millville.

The event promises family-friendly entertainment. Event coordinator Stacey Hansen told us about this year’s event.

“We have five couples that are coming to perform, it’s kind of a rendition of Dancing With the Stars except it’s a local tradition here in Cache Valley. We find a, we call them a “star”, it’s a business owner or someone in the community that’s a leader or prominent that other people might know about. And then we pair them with a choreographer-dancer from different genres and they come perform for us and fundraise for the American Cancer Society and Relay for Life,” Hansen explained.

In addition to that, they are bringing in dance studios from across Cache Valley and southern Idaho to entertain as well. Hansen said the five “stars” have been practicing with their partners.

“Most of them have been paired up with their choreographer for maybe a month, maybe a little over a month,” Hansen said. “And each one of them is doing a different genre of dance and, to be honest, their schedules have been kind of crazy, so they’ve got to arrange their schedule and their dancing.  Some of them have probably practiced many times and others maybe only a couple of times, or practiced via Zoom or something like that.”

She admitted it’s probably a little scary for some of the “stars” who may not have extensive dancing experience.

But she said they give them grace and cheer them on as they perform. Tickets are available pre-buy for $5, and $7 admission at the door and $30 for a family of 6.
