LOGAN – City officials here have announced that the Logan City Cemetery will undergo its annual spring clean-up beginning Friday April 18.

The Logan Parks and Recreation Department, which has supervisory responsibility for the cemetery, advises family members that they should remove all non-perishable items, decorations and other personal items from their loved ones’ grave sites prior to that date.

Officials say that such items can be returned to the headstones the following week.

Established in 1869, the Logan City Cemetery averages about 225 inturnments a year.

Of the cemetery’s 53-acres of land, about 80 percent of that area is already occupied by more than 20,000 grave sites.

The city’s cemetery staff routinely maintains the grounds around headstones, including mowing, trimming and irrigation.

For questions or additional information about the cemetery effort, local residents are advised to call 435-716-9270.

The Logan City Cemetery is located at 1000 North, 1200 East in Logan.
