LOGAN – Logan City officials have announced the hiring of a new director to lead the Logan Library.
Michael Sauers, an experienced librarian and technology manager, will replace former library director Karen Clark, who retired in fall of 2024 after 27 years in various roles with the Logan Library.
He will join the Logan Library staff on Monday, March 24.
Sauers currently co-leads Do Space, the country’s first community technology library in Omaha, NE. In that capacity, he oversees operations, public service and technology for the Nebraska community of nearly half a million residents.
Sauers played a pivotal role in the creation of Do Space, participating in its initial planning and the later implementation of the innovative community resource.
A native of Greece, NY, Sauers holds a masters degree in Library Science from the University of Albany.
His contributions to the library profession include presentations at numerous state, regional, national and international conferences as well as sharing his insights on technological trends and best practices.
During nearly 30 years of work in his chosen field, Sauers has developed and delivered training programs for libraries nationwide. Those programs have helped to empower librarians and patrons with essential digital skills.
His expertise extends to technology planning, implementation and support, including the use public computers and circulating technology.
He is also a prolific author, having written numerous articles and books on library technology, clearly establishing his reputation as a leader in that emerging field.
City officials here praised Sauers for his strong commitment to technology education and literacy.
The Logan Library is located at 285 North Main Street in the downtown area.
