LOGAN — Cache Valley Chamber CEO Jamie Andrus was in-studio last week for her monthly showcase of events sponsored by the chamber.

The Northern Utah Manufacturing Excellence conference was held Wednesday, but another big event will be held later this month.

“On the 23rd of October at the Riverwoods Conference Center, will be our annual women’s conference. Our theme this year is ‘Ignite Your Potential – Unlock the Leader Within.’ It’s going to be a great day and we’re very excited about the opportunity. Registration’s open, we expect to sell completely out,” she explained.

On KVNU’s For the People program, Andrus said the women’s conference is also an opportunity to help female college students.

“One of the things we do with our women’s conference is we partner with our local women in business group, and we raise money for women’s scholarships.

“We raise money for women to get, not only a traditional scholarship, but maybe some professional development or some certifications. And we do try to focus on women returning to get more education or improve their skills.”

Andrus said they’ll have a silent auction and also a jewelry sale.

“I don’t know if you know about women and jewelry (laughs), but women seem to have a little bit of jewelry hanging around. What they don’t use they donate, and then we turn around and resell it, and we do it for, really a song and a dance.

“It isn’t expensive, you can buy items for $5, or $10, or $12. But it’s just a fun, fun way to raise a little bit of money.”

She said last year they were able to raise enough money to provide a full 9-month leadership development program for a woman.

Andrus said the conference will also have three major keynote speakers along with many break-out speakers.
