LOGAN — The case against a 47-year-old Garland City man accused of driving to a Logan park to have sex with an undercover officer, posing as a 13-year-old girl, has been dismissed by a judge. Brian Don Littledike, who was arrested in July 2023, has been found incompetent to stand trial.

Littledike appeared Monday, Sept. 23 in Logan’s 1st District Court. He was previously charged with two counts of attempted aggravated sexual abuse of a child, a first-degree felony; and four counts of enticing a minor, a second-degree felony

Judge Spencer Walsh said he had received a report from mental health professionals at the Utah State Hospital, where Littledike had been receiving treatment. The doctors had concluded the defendant was unable to understand the legal process or assist in his defense due to a developmental disability. They also reported that even with treatment they wouldn’t be able to restore his competency.

Cache County Deputy Attorney Ronnie Keller said that based on the report, prosecutors were dismissing the case against him and recommending that he be placed in the care of his family.

Littledike reportedly began communicating with the undercover officer July 13. Logan City Police officers became aware of him after a woman called 911, complaining of a male individual who was inappropriately texting her, thinking she was a teenage girl named Brittany.

Officers asked the woman to give Litttledike another phone number and explain that it was her private number. Soon after, investigators began receiving texts from the suspect.

Police reported the messages quickly turned graphic in nature, with Littledike describing various sexual acts he wished to perform with the undercover officer. He also asked to meet up in person and arranged to meet at a Logan park.

The next day, Littledike drove to the designated location, and approached a female officer, who was standing on a bridge. Police were waiting nearby to quickly take him into custody.

Littledike was taken to the police department, explained his Miranda Rights and questioned by officers. He claimed that he had a wrong phone number and started texting who he thought was Brittany by mistake.

When the police officer asked about the pornographic nature of the messages, Littledike reportedly acknowledged that he “started asking questions I shouldn’t have.” He claimed that he only intended to hangout for a bit but wasn’t going to do anything that would get him in trouble.

During the Sept. 23 hearing, Judge Spencer Walsh said he would grant prosecutor’s request to dismiss the case. He warned Littledike to stay off the internet and stay out of trouble.
