LOGAN — A single-vehicle crash left a man in the hospital and temporarily knocked out electricity to nearby businesses and residents. The crash occurred Friday night just after 10 p.m.
Logan City Police Assistant Chief Jeff Simmons said a man was driving west on 1800 North, when he went off the road near 990 West, striking a large power pole. The car hit the pole and then rolled.
The driver of the vehicle had to be extricated by emergency crews. He was transported by ambulance to the hospital in critical condition.
The impact of the crash, sheered the two-foot wide power pole. Electricity was knocked out to hundreds of residents and businesses on the west side of the city. The outage lasted for only several minutes.
Simmons said police suspect impairment as a factor in the crash. Formal charges are pending the completion of officer’s investigation.
