LOGAN — Emergency crews and law enforcement responded early Wednesday morning after a passenger car crashed into the rear of a semi-truck trailer, narrowly missing fatal injuries. The crash was reported at approximately 4:10 a.m. near 400 W. 1000 N.
Responders were paged to the scene following reports of a collision involving a passenger vehicle and a semi-truck. Upon arrival, emergency personnel discovered that the passenger car had driven directly into the back of the trailer.
According to emergency radio communication, the 18-year-old driver of the car smelled of alcohol and was barely breathing. He later regained consciousness and was transported by ambulance to the hospital.
First responders reported the force and position of the impact missed causing major injuries to the occupant by mere inches.
Logan City Police Lt. Barry Parslow said initial evidence suggests the driver of the passenger car failed to stop and hit the semi. Alcohol was confirmed to be a possible contributing factor in the crash.
Authorities have not released additional details regarding potential causes or whether any citations were issued.
