LOGAN – Ten Cache Valley faith communities will open their doors Nov. 13-14 for a Cache Valley Interfaith Open House, an annual event designed to promote understanding, respect and stronger relationships among the valley’s diverse religious groups.

The free, two-weekend community event invites residents to visit participating congregations, learn about their faith traditions and gain a better understanding of the role religion plays in the community.

“The idea for a tour of various local faiths originated with Wendy Neeley, a member of the Jr. Reuben Clark Law Society in 2024,” said Jason Tubbs of the Bear River Communication Council of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and a member of Cache Community Connections. “She presented the idea to Cache Community Connections (CCC), who endorsed the idea.”

Cache Community Connections asked Shelly Ortiz to chair this year’s interfaith open house.

Tubbs said the event, originally established as the Cache Valley Tour of Faiths, was created to strengthen relationships among community members and recognize the benefits of faith participation.

“The tour allows the public to see the diversity of faiths in the valley and build bridges of understanding and mutual respect,” he said.

During the event, each participating congregation will host a one-hour session, welcoming visitors to tour its sacred spaces, hear a brief introduction to its beliefs and traditions, and participate in an informal question-and-answer session.

Organizers encourage residents to attend with an open mind and a willingness to learn.

“Learn about different faith traditions, connect with your neighbors, and strengthen our community,” Tubbs said. “Just bring your curiosity, a bit of time and a respectful ear. This isn’t about changing minds — it’s about opening them.”

The event also provides an opportunity for smaller faith communities to connect with one another and the broader Cache Valley community.

“It is rewarding to see a bunch of these small communities come together to form a larger community,” Tubbs said. “This happens at both a religious and community level. The Cache Valley Tour of Churches helps enable and encourage this on both levels.”

Organizers say the event is about more than visiting different places of worship. It is an opportunity to build friendships, encourage conversations and recognize the common values that bring people together.

“Though we may be of different faiths, we are one community,” organizers said in announcing the event. “By learning about each other and coming together in service, we strengthen our valley.”
