CACHE COUNTY – The members of the Cache County Council will hold an unusual public hearing at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Dec. 10 to accept local residents’ comment on proposed Ordinance 2024-22 making adjustments to the salaries of county officers.
That hearing had originally been scheduled on Nov. 26, but was deterred due to recent changes to state code with regard to providing public notice of salary adjustments.
Under Utah Code 17-16-14, that public hearing is scheduled for 30 minutes, just prior to the beginning of the Cache County Council’s regular meeting at 5 p.m.
The issue is likely to be controversial, given that competitive pay hikes are one of the reasons cited for the proposed 20 percent tax increase that council members are weighing for the county budget in calendar year 2025.
County officials are contemplating the adoption of a budget for 2025 of more than $107.6 million.
That budget is scheduled to be finalized with the adoption of Resolution 2024-23 during the council’s regular meeting on Dec. 10, along with Resolution 2024-27 adopting the proposed property tax increase and Resolution 2024-28 imposing a county option sales tax for public safety.
The 4:30 p.m. hearing is set for the Council Chambers of the Cache County Historic Courthouse.
The Cache County Historic Courthouse is located at 199 North Main in Logan.
