LOGAN – This Saturday, Oct. 4, approximately 3,400 student musicians will descend onto Merlin Olsen Field at Utah State University for one of the state’s largest marching band competitions.
The stadium is located at 1000 N. 1200 East in Logan. The annual Bridgerland Marching Band Invitational has been going on for over 25 years.
The Beehive state high school marching bands come to show camaraderie and compete for bragging rights.
The Mountain Crest High School Marching Band, led by Joel Yoder, is sponsoring the event and invites everyone to watch 40 marching bands of various sizes from around the state strut their stuff. This band competition is an experience most people won’t soon forget.
“This is one of the biggest and best marching band competitions in Utah,” a press release states. “The show begins at 9:15 with the National Anthem which will be played by South Cache Middle School 8th graders and Cache Bones, our local trombone choir.”
The smallest band in this year’s competition has 26 members and the largest band is 230 members strong.
Green Canyon is the first local band to take the field at 12:30 p.m., then Ridgeline at 3:45 p.m., Sky View will be on the field at 4:00 p.m., followed by Mountain Crest at 4:30 p.m.
The Utah State University’s Aggie Marching Band will finish the night at 9:45 p.m.
Tickets are free for 10 and under and only $9 for 11 and up. They are valid all day long. Members of the community are invited to come support local marching bands in this great competition.
