BRIGHAM CITY, Utah (AP) — A Box Elder County Commissioner says he’s going through counseling after pleading guilty to drunk driving last month.
Commissioner Ryan Tingey was arrested in April and pleaded guilty in August to a misdemeanor drunk driving charge.
Tingey told The Standard-Examiner on Tuesday that he’s somewhat relieved the news of his arrest is now public.
He says he made a mistake.
A judge sentenced Tingey to counseling, community service and one year of probation. Tingey was also ordered to pay a $1,400 fine.
Tingey, a Republican, is not running for re-election this year. His four year term ends in December.
