CACHE COUNTY – Country singer/songwriter Skip Ewing will lead off the entertainment at the 2026 Cache Valley Cowboy Rendezvous on Thursday, Mar. 12 at the Cache County Event Center.

The annual week-long event to promote Utah’s rich western and farm culture through music, poetry, art, dance and education will be held Monday, Mar. 9 through Saturday, Mar. 14 at various locations throughout Cache Valley, including the classrooms of local public schools.

A natural-born storyteller, Ewing’s gifts of vivid songwriting and human connections made him a chart-topping country star in the 1990s with six top 20 hits on the county charts. He also composed songs for Randy Travis, Clint Black, Lainey Wilson, Keith Urban, George Strait, Tim McGraw and Shania Twain that enjoyed similar success.

After a 10-year hiatus at his ranch outside Yellowstone National Park in Wyoming, Ewing returned to performing this decade with three well-received albums and a fourth, entitled Dragonfly, on the way.

Ewing will share the spotlight on Mar. 12 with opening acts Many Strings and former mule skinner Jeff Carson, a cowboys poet.

The annual Cowboy Rendezvous is a reunion of western musicians, cowboy poets and artisans, according to event organizer Dale Major. Its intent is to provide an atmosphere of high-quality cultural entertainment and educational activities to enrich local individuals and families.

“Most activities are offered free to the public of all ages,” Major explains, “thanks to the support we received from the local Restaurants, Arts, Park and Zoos tax program.”

The festivities will begin with the rendezvous’ educational outreach program from Monday, Mar. 9 through Friday, Mar. 13, when country musicians will visit local classrooms to teach school children to play the harmonica.

While nationally known professional entertainers will perform in ticketed concerts on Mar. 12 and 14 at the Cache County Event Center, free rendezvous events at that location will include contests and activities for children and adults, food truck vendors, open-microphone opportunities for budding talents and three continuous stages of western music and poetry.

A meet and greet buffet is scheduled on Mar. 12 at 5 p.m. prior to the Skip Ewing concert at 7 p.m.

On Friday, Mar. 13, Cowboy Rendezvous events will begin at 3 p.m. including poets and musicians performing on two stages; an open-microphone event on another stage; a campfire concert at 6:30 p.m.; a cowboy family dance starting at 7:30 p.m.; and a swing dance concert at 8:45 p.m.

Similar events will begin at 8 a.m. on Saturday, Mar. 14, with kids participating in patriotic and poetry contests, western vendors displaying their wares in the Trading Post Area and food trucks in the Chuckwagon Area of the Cache County Event Center.

At 2 p.m. that day, singer Jim Curry will recreate the music of the late John Denver, with opening acts Kenny Hall and poet Darrell Holden.

In the evening, the rendezvous event will climax with a 7 p.m. concert by western artist Brenn Hill.

A native of Ogden, Hill won the County Music Association’s Crescendo Award in 2001 and was named male vocalist of the year in 2004 by the Academy of Western Artists.

Hill will appear with opening acts Patty Clayton and poet Paul Bliss.

Other western musicians scheduled to perform at the Cowboy Rendezvous include Dave Anderson, Kaden Miner, Brian Arnold, Chris Mortensen, Clive Romney, Kristen Lloyd, Zach Martinez and The Barn Kats.

Additional poets in the artists’ line-up will include Thatch Elmer, Jo Lynne Kirkwood and Sam DeLeeuw.

The Cache Valley Cowboy Rendezvous will conclude with a free non-denominational Cowboy Church Service at 10 a.m. on Sunday, Mar. 15.

The 2026 Cache Valley Cowboy Rendezvous will be sponsored by the Cache County RAPZ Tax, the Cache Valley Media Group, the Baugh Motel, Smith & Edwards, the Herald Journal and the Cache Valley Visitors Bureau.
