LOGAN — A 44-year-old Smithfield man has been arrested for allegedly stealing more than $12,000 from Angie’s restaurant, while working there as a manager, according to law enforcement. Adam Saxon Lowther was booked May 12 in to the Cache County Jail.
According to the arrest affidavit, the restaurant’s owner contacted Logan City Police officers after allegedly finding falsified till receipts dating back to 2022, adding up to $12,116.71 as of May 9.
When counting the till, Lowther would allegedly write down a smaller amount and pocket the difference.
Police questioned Lowther during the investigation. He reportedly admitted to stealing from the restaurant and falsifying the receipts when confronted by the owner, initially stating he only did it a couple of times.
According to the probable cause statement, the owner went through all the receipts Lowther was in charge of, finding falsified records starting the end of 2022, with the amount taken each year increasing from about $500 in 2022 to about $7,000 in 2024.
Lowther has been a manager at Angie’s for 19 years.
According to jail records, Lowther was arrested on suspicion of second-degree felony theft. He was later released, pending arraignment on formal charges in 1st District Court.
