WELLSVILLE – Horse drawn sleigh rides will be among the holiday festivities planned at the American West Heritage Center during the upcoming Christmas season.
That activity is slated for Saturdays on Dec. 6, 13, 20 and 27, plus Dec. 22, 23 and 24.
For the youngsters, Santa Claus will also on-hand from 10:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. and 2 to 4:30 p.m. on Dec. 13, 20 and 22.
“A horse drawn sleigh ride at the American West Heritage Center is the perfect activity to celebrate the holiday season,” according to a AWHC Facebook post.
“Experience the peace and enjoyment of a festive ride around the historic farm site, delighting in the decorations and animals flanked by the breathtaking scenery of the Wellsville Mountains.”
Organizers of the sleigh rides say they will take place regardless of the weather conditions at the historic farm. If no snow has fallen, the traditional runners of the horse drawn sleighs will be replaced with wheels.
The sleigh ride’s itinerary will include stops at the vintage 1900s Farm House and Santa’s Workshop, as well as the farm snack bar where complementary cocoa and cookies will be available.
The sleigh rides will conclude with a visit to the farm’s Welcome Center for general merchandise and gift shopping.
Weather permitting, sledding will also be available, but guest are reminded to bring their own sleds.
The sleigh rides will take place from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. The AWHC gates will close promptly at 5 p.m.
The mission of the American West Heritage Center is to create an educational and entertaining environment that inspires its patrons to learn, live and celebrate Cache Valley and Utah traditions from 1820 to 1920.
