LOGAN – In its continuing celebration of America’s semi-quincentennial, the Logan Library is inviting young artists to submit their creations to its Kids America 250 Art Contest.
“Youth in kindergarten through eighth grades are encouraged to create and submit original artwork based on the theme ‘America the Beautiful’,” according to Morgan Stoker Taylor, the city’s outreach librarian. “Those creation should showcase what makes Utah’s natural beauty and culture special.”
Taylor says that submission dates for the contest will be Oct . 5 through Oct. 19 at the information desk on the ground floor of the Logan Library.
“All participating artist will receive a goodie bag,” she explains. “The first through third place winners in each separate grade category will take home prizes and the top overall artworks will be displayed in the Logan Library.”
After the artworks are submitted, the public will be invited to view those submissions and vote for their favorites on Tuesday, Oct. 27 from 2 to 5 p.m.; on Thursday, Oct. 29 from 5 to 9 p.m.; and Saturday, Oct. 31 from 1 to 6 p.m.
Taylor adds that the celebration will conclude at 2 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 7 with an official ribbon-cutting for a gallery full of the winning artworks, with those creations to remain on display through 3:30 p.m.
