LOGAN — Firefighters from multiple area departments responded to a first-alarm structure fire early Thursday morning. The blaze was reported at 375 West 400 North, Smithfield.
Crews were dispatched to the working structure fire at 5:32 a.m. Thursday. First teams on the scene reported flames coming out of the roof and garage.
The fire reportedly originated in the attached garage, prompting firefighters from Newton and Trenton to check the residence’s attic for potential fire extension.
The home’s occupants were outside by the time firefighters arrived. Crews evacuated nearby residences as a precaution after explosions were heard coming from the garage.
After interior crews exited the building, firefighters assisted with overhaul operations to check for hidden hotspots and ensure the fire was completely extinguished.
Information regarding the cause of the fire, the extent of the damage, or any potential injuries was not immediately available.
