LINDON, Utah — The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints dedicated its newest temple Sunday in Utah County.

According to a press release, Henry B. Eyring, first counselor in the church’s First Presidency, dedicated the Lindon Utah Temple, marking the faith’s 216th operating temple worldwide.

During the dedicatory services, Eyring emphasized the peace temple worship can bring to members amid life’s challenges.

“Each time you return to the temple you will, by the Spirit, learn more of [Jesus Christ] and of His Father,” Eyring said. “The peace He promises us can come, even as the storms of life beat upon us. The temple is a place of peace where we are cleansed and purified through His Atonement.”

The three-story, 81,000-square-foot temple is located at 850 E. Center St. The late church President Russell M. Nelson announced the facility in October 2020, and officials broke ground in April 2022. A public open house was held from mid-March through early April.

Utah, which serves as the church’s global headquarters, is home to more than 2.2 million Latter-day Saints. The Lindon facility is one of 32 temples in the state that are currently operating, under construction or undergoing renovation.

The Lindon dedication was one of two held by the church on Sunday. Elder Dale G. Renlund of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles dedicated the Davao Philippines Temple the same day.
