NORTH LOGAN – Many Cache Valley residents honored veterans by putting out American flags and recognized military men and women for their service to the country.
Hot Dogs were on the meu to recognize veterans the Rocky Mountain Mountain Veterans Center on Tuesday Nov. 11, 2025.
Veterans Day, held annually on November 11, is a federal holiday in the United States and honors military veterans of the Armed Forces of the United States of America. It coincides with Armistice Day and Remembrance Day, which also occur on the anniversary of the end of World War I.
Rocky Mountain Veteran’s Association held their annual Veterans Day Open House on Tuesday Nov. 11, inviting former service members and their families for an informal hot dog lunch.
By 1:30 they had served 130 hot dogs.
“We planned for 170 people,” said Terry Messmer, the Chief of Administrative Services for the organization. “We have been really happy with the turn out.”
They served hotdogs, buns, condiments, fruit, chips, a piece of cake and soda.
“We gave away some great door prizes sponsored by our Home Health Care Team,” Messmer added.
This year’s sponsors included Lee’s Market Place, Caspar’s Malt Shoppe, Thermo-Fisher, Pepsi, Old Grist Mill and music by Marly.
Many of the valley’s elementary and middle schools held programs for area veterans. They sang patriotic songs and had veterans stand to be recognized.
Many of the restaurants in Cache Valley honored veterans with free or discounted meals:

Brett and Zellene Allred spoke to the group earlier in the day. The couple founded a scholarship foundation to honor their son Lance Corporal Michael J. Allred, a U.S. Marine killed in action in Iraq on Sept. 6, 2004.
There is a scholarship to honor Allred from funds received from the Ride for the Fallen, a motorcycle ride across the valley.
Allred is on the wall of the Rocky Mountain Veterans Center. The wall displays the names of local veterans who died while serving their country in WWI, WWII, Korea, Iran, Iraq, Afghanistan, and other conflicts.
