BOX ELDER COUNTY — A 22-year-old man was killed Tuesday morning when his car went off the interstate and rolled into a ditch northwest of Tremonton.
According to the Utah Highway Patrol, a passerby reported a Toyota Sequoia in a ditch off I-84 at Blue Creek about 5:45 a.m. Troopers arrived just after 6 a.m. and located a SUV with extensive damage.
The Toyota had rolled down an embankment off the side of the road, and officials said the driver was ejected from the vehicle during the rollover.
The 22-year-old man was the sole occupant of the car and died in the crash. His identity has not been released, pending notification of family.
As the investigation into the crash continued, troopers learned the vehicle was stolen out of Weber County around midnight, and the deceased driver matched the description of the person who allegedly stole the SUV.
Troopers are investigating what caused the crash. Some of the lanes along I-84 were closed for about three hours near the crash scene.
