LOGAN — A man in a wheelchair received minor injuries after being struck by a car Wednesday morning. The crash occurred at 1400 N. Main Street just before 10 a.m.
Logan City Police Lt. Derek Dickey said the 72-year-old man was travelling southbound in a motorized wheelchair. As he attempted to cross 1400 North on the eastside of the intersection, he was hit by a car that was attempting a right-hand turn onto Main Street.
The man was thrown from the chair and landed in the roadway. A police officer was nearby and responded immediately, requesting paramedics and additional help.
“Luckily, the man was not hurt,” explained Dickey. “He refused medical care when paramedics arrived at the crash.”
The driver of the vehicle remained on the scene and cooperated with investigators. There was no suspicion of any impairment.
Dickey said it appears the driver was looking in the opposite direction for a break in the traffic and didn’t realize the man was going to cross the street.
