Two people are dead after a helicopter crashed in Salado, Texas, on Wednesday, according to the Bell County Sheriff’s Office.
The chopper is a U.S. Army Apache attack helicopter that crashed in a field near Fort Hood in Texas, two sources told ABC News.
The crash is still burning, but no buildings or structures were damaged, the Bell County Sheriff’s Office confirmed to ABC News.
Apache attack helicopters are two-seater aircraft.
The sheriff’s office said it received a 911 call regarding a helicopter crash after 1:30 p.m. local time. The crash sparked a grass fire that was “out of control” when sheriff’s officers arrived on the scene.
The sheriff’s office confirmed this was an Apache Military helicopter but would not confirm where it came from or where it was going.
