LOGAN — A 25-year-old former Salt Lake City woman is behind bars after multiple arrests recently in Cache Valley. Mikelle Ann Fowler is being held in the Cache County Jail temporarily without bail, after being arrested again for allegedly trying to pass counterfeit money at several Logan businesses.

According to an arrest affidavit, Logan City Police officers were called to a bank Friday afternoon on report that Fowler had tried to exchange two counterfeit $100 bills for real currency. She then entered the business after tellers refused to exchange the bills.

Employees later told police, “[Fowler] made vague comments that caused alarm and fear to employees for their safety.” She left the scene before officers could arrive.

Several minutes later, an employee at a nearby gas station called 911, claiming Fowler had attempted to buy cigarettes without identification. When turned away, she attempted to have two other customers buy them for her, according to the probable cause statement.

The employee told police, Fowler was the same individual who went into the gas station Thursday, attempting to use counterfeit $100 bills.

As police arrived to the gas station, Fowler became aggressive, cursing at officers as they took her into custody. She also allegedly threatened them and their family, while being transported to jail, the arrest report detailed.

Jail records show, Fowler has had several interactions with law enforcement during the past several days. She was originally arrested Tuesday for allegedly taking a vehicle and driving it without a license. She is now facing additional offenses, ranging from theft, burglary, forgery and assaulting a peace officer.

Court records show, Fowler has been convicted of multiple drug offences in Layton, Farmington and Salt Lake. She will likely be arraigned in 1st District Court in Logan, Monday afternoon, on new charges from her recent arrests.

Individuals arrested and charged in complaints are presumed innocent unless or until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in court.
