LOGAN — A 35-year-old Wellsville woman has been ordered to serve three months in jail for sexting with teenagers, seeking pornographic material from them. Megan Jae Hugie was arrested last year following an investigation by the Cache County Sheriff’s Office.
According to court records, Hugie was sentenced March 19 in Logan’s 1st District Court. She previously accepted a plea deal, pleading guilty to sexual exploitation of a minor, a second-degree felony.
According to prosecutors, Hugie posed as a teenage girl online. She would chat with teens, and request pornographic photos or videos of themselves.
During last Wednesday’s sentencing, Judge Brian Cannell ordered Hugie to serve a term of 90 days in jail, giving credit for one day previously served, followed by 36 months of probation. He also ordered her to complete a psychosexual evaluation and behavioral therapy, and be placed on the sex-offender registry.
