LOGAN — A 37-year-old Wellsville man has been arrested for allegedly threatening to shoot a woman in the head during a domestic dispute, according to law enforcement. Jeremy Maeser Jensen was booked Saturday night into the Cache County Jail.
According to the arrest affidavit, Cache County Sheriff’s deputies responded to a residence after a woman called 911, claiming Jensen had choked her, held a gun to her head, and threw a rock at her. She explained that the incident had happened while the two had been drinking.
The alleged victim told deputies, Jensen had been showing her how to use a handgun but became angry when she was unable to pull the slide back. He allegedly held the gun to her forehead and threatened to kill her.
The woman claimed she went upstairs to her own bedroom and later heard Jensen coming into the room, threatening to kill her with a rock. He threw the rock, striking her in the back, the probable cause statement detailed.
After running out of the house to call 911, the alleged victim told deputies, Jensen walked outside, put his arm around her and choked her. She was able to breathe and scream during the incident.
Investigators later questioned Jensen at the sheriff’s office. He said deputies woke him up and he didn’t know why he was being detained. After further questioning, he denied threatening to kill the alleged victim or choking her.
Jensen was arraigned Tuesday afternoon in Logan’s 1st District Court, appearing by web conference from jail. He was charged with aggravated kidnapping, a first-degree felony; three counts of aggravated assault and possession of a firearm by a restricted person, all third-degree felonies; and misdemeanors for drug possession and making a threat of violence.
Cache County Deputy Attorney Ken Peterson asked to court to refuse Jensen’s bail. He said the suspect had a history of violent offenses and was a danger to the community.
Judge Angela Fonnesbeck ordered Jensen to be held without bail and have no contact with the alleged victim. She ordered him to appear again in court Sept. 20.
