LOGAN – A celebration which dates back to the early 1970s — The Week of the Young Child — is underway this week at Utah State University with campus-wide and statewide activities Monday through Friday.

There are six early childhood programs within the Emma Eccles Jones College of Education and Human Services which reach children within the USU community. These programs serve about 10,000 young children every year. Hosting events this week on the Logan campus are Sound Beginnings, Edith Bowen Lab School, ASSERT, the Child Development Lab, the Dolores Dore Eccles Center for Early Care and Education and Care about Childcare.

Children will participate in the statewide programs at Little Brigham Aggies along with the child development laboratories in Roosevelt and Brigham City plus the Little Brigham Aggies and the Junior Aggies Academy in Blanding.

Daily themed activities will be part of the celebration including Music Monday, Tasty Tuesday, Work Together Wednesday, Artsy Thursday and Family Friday.

The week will end with a 10 a.m. children’s parade on the Logan campus Friday which will include children and families served by USU’s early childhood programs. Children enrolled in the Child Development Lab will line up in front of the Family Life Building on the south end of campus while all other children will begin the parade on the walkway between the HPER and Education buildings.
