NORTH LOGAN – The Department of Veteran Affairs has announced a Veteran’s Claims/Benefits Fair to be held here on Tuesday, Jan. 10.
That event is scheduled for the Dan Gyllenskog Veterans Resource Center in North Logan from 8 a.m. to 12 p.m.
Representatives of the Salt Lake City Veterans’ Affairs regional office will be on-hand, according to Phil Redlinger, executive director of the Cache Valley Veterans’ Association.
This will be an opportunity for Cache Valley veterans to avoid all those long-waited responses and lengthy on-hold calls by getting their question answered quickly by meeting with VA representatives face-to-face, he explained.
Redlinger added that the VA representatives will be able to assist with questions, answers and applications for service connected disability claims; non-service connected pension benefits; vocational rehabilitation and employment; survivor benefits; burial benefits; the Promise to Address Comprehensive Toxics (PACT) Act of 2022; program enrollments; and more.
Founded in 2021, the Dan Gyllenskog Veterans Resource Center is a one-stop shopping clearing house for veterans and their families from northern Utah, southeast Idaho and western Wyoming, an estimated stakeholder population of more than 15,000.
The 3,800 square foot center features a large conference room for meetings; resources to serve homeless veterans; and mental health and suicide counseling. The center also includes facilities where state and federal veterans affairs services are offered.
The resource center is named in honor of the late Dan Gyllenskog, a U.S. Marine Corps veteran and recipient of the Purple Heart medal who worked tirelessly to serve Cache Valley veterans.
The Dan Gyllenskog Veterans Resource Center is located at 1760 North, 200 East (Suite 100) in North Logan.
