LOGAN — A traffic accident Monday morning sent two men to the hospital with life threatening injuries. The crash was reported at approximately 7:45 a.m. at 1800 S. 1000 West.

Logan City Police Chief Gary Jensen said two men were in a red Nissan Altima, attempting to either cross 1000 West or turn left, when they pulled in front of a water-truck that was travelling southbound.

“It is believed the driver didn’t see the water-truck because he pulls right out in front of the truck, which hit the car on the driver’s side door,” said Jensen. “The truck pushed the Altima into a Chevy Spark that was in the turn lane, waiting to go west onto 1800 South.”

The water-truck was empty but still travelling at around 55 mph.

First crews on the scene reported the driver and passenger in the Altima were seriously injured and required extrication. No other injuries were reported from the two other drivers.

Jensen said paramedics were able to treat both injured men on the scene and transport them to the hospital.

“The passenger was in better shape than the driver but both were in critical need of medical care.”

Traffic along 1000 West was partially blocked for several hours while law enforcement investigated the crash.
