LOGAN, Utah – Utah State head men’s basketball coach Craig Smith has announced the addition of Nigel John, a 6-foot-9, 250-pound post, joining the team for the 2020-21 season. John, a native of Allen, Texas, will have four years of eligibility for the Aggies.

“We are thrilled that Nigel is joining the Aggie family,” Smith said. “He and his family are wonderful people. Nigel fits the culture of our program in a big-time way. He has a tremendous work ethic and has a motor that runs at a high, high level. Nigel has a great blend of athleticism and skill level that will fit our style of play very well.”

John averaged a double-double with the Texas Alliance Homeschool, turning in 16.8 points and 10.8 rebounds per game and was also a force defensively, averaging 3.0 blocks per game. John’s scoring output included 21 double-digit scoring outings, with nine games with 20 or more points, shooting 80.0 percent (191-of-238) from the floor.
