LINCOLN COUNTY, Wyoming — A 31-year-old Utah man died Sunday after being caught in an avalanche while snowmobiling in the Labarge Creek area, southeast of Star Valley Wyoming.

According to a press release, the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office received an emergency Garmin InReach notification at approximately 2:15 p.m. regarding an injured person. Star Valley Search and Rescue and Air Idaho responded to the scene, where they discovered Nicholas Bringhurst of Springville had been buried in a slide.

A friend located and dug out Bringhurst and initiated CPR, but the efforts were unsuccessful. Lincoln County Coroner Dain Schwab met with rescue units and took custody of Bringhurst’s body.

The Coroner’s Office will determine the official cause of death. The Sheriff’s Office expressed its deepest sympathies to the Bringhurst family following the tragedy.
